Qualification for Honoured Membership to Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame
ATHLETE:
- Must have been a resident of Ottawa region during period of time in which they developed basic athletic skills which led to their distinction as an athlete, or permanent resident of Ottawa region for a period of not less than five (5) years during which time they distinguished themselves as an athlete.
- Not normally considered until three (3) years following retirement from major competition or if still active having reached the age of fifty (50) years.
- If Ottawa region is place of birth, consideration may be given to those whose athletic success was achieved elsewhere.
BUILDER:
- A builder shall be a person other than an athlete who has contributed to the sports heritage of the Ottawa region for a period of not less than fifteen (15) years. Although such a period of service need not necessarily be consecutive.
- Must have made a major contribution to the development and advancement of the sport in the Ottawa region while a resident of region or must have been a resident of the region during the period of time in they honed the skills which lead to their distinction as a builder.
TEAM:
- A team must be based in Ottawa region when feat is acclaimed
- Must be comprised primarily of Ottawa region residents at time of accomplishment.
- Must have won a national championship or distinguished themselves in International or World Championship as a team duly selected to represent Canada in such competitions. The competition must be an open event sanctioned by a sports governing body.
- A team must be composed of two (2) or more members
- Members of a team eligible for the election into the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame shall be only those whose names appear on the official team roster for which the championship is being claimed.
- Athletes competing as individuals within their sport as part of a contingent do not constitute a team. A team is not a team if the team result is derived on the basis of calculation of individual scores.
